I think they broke the legs of crucifixion victims to speed up the process, as is stopped them from holding themselves up. According to the bible (as i recall), they were going to break Jesus’ legs so he wouldn’t be alive till the next day (which would mean they had to let him go), but it turned out he was already dead.
Personally however, i wouldn’t trust the bible on matters of history.

Actually, it’s kind of accurate. In crucifixions, the Romans would break the person’s legs to make sure they were dead, but with Jesus, the centurions could tell he was already dead so they just poked him with a spear. The gospel says he was dead by the time this happened though. Still, the comic is very funny, even to a good christian like myself. A typical reaction anyone would make, even the son of god. he was human, don’t forget that!

I get the feeling this is probably pretty true to reality. These soldiers have seen a lot, and most likely inflicted a lot of it themselves, so they wouldn’t really care. As for the alive thing, well, that’s galllows humor for you, and humans haven’t changed much in 2000 years. Besides, the spear in the side thing was to make sure he as dead, right? they never told us the results.

BTW, i am a Christian. This is not blasphemous, just silly. Blasphemy would be declaring that Jesus never existed, or that he was not the son of god. This comic does neither. Thanks for the chuckle.
